1. Terms of Engagement
1.1. Before beginning any work, Little Things Genealogy will confirm in writing that the client and it share a common understanding of the project.
1.2. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that the details of any previous research have been shared with Little Things Genealogy. This will avoid duplication of research.
1.3. Little Things Genealogy will not exceed the time initially agreed by the client without prior agreement.
1.4. Little Things Genealogy undertakes to report the research findings with detailed sources of the information obtained. Where research is not successful, information as to the avenues that have been explored will be provided.
1.5. Chargeable time includes research, analysis, record identification, viewing and copying records, report preparation and writing, and time spent communicating with the client by telephone, email, text and in person.
1.6. If during the research it becomes clear that the research will not take as long as initially quoted or if research cannot progress as anticipated, Little Things Genealogy will only invoice for the actual research time spent.
2. Payment Terms and Fees
2.1. A deposit is required before work can begin for all new clients, and this will be agreed upon in writing. Little Things Genealogy will email a payment invoice.
2.2. Any subsequent research will be agreed upon between Little Things Genealogy and the client. Fees will be payable on invoice at the completion of the project and within 7 days of the invoice being issued.
2.3. Fees are charged for the actual time spent on research, analysis, record identification, viewing and copying records, report preparation and writing, and communicating with the client by telephone, email, text, and in person.
2.4. Expenses are charged at cost (e.g. birth, marriage & death certificates, postage etc.).
2.5. All prices quoted are in AUD (Australian Dollars). Little Things Genealogy does not accept payment in any other currency. The preferred method of payment is direct bank transfer. Bank account details will be provided upon invoice.
3. Likelihood of Success
3.1. There is never a guarantee of success in genealogical research, and it is sometimes not possible to trace a family back as far as expected or to find the expected information in a particular document. Genealogical research can be a lengthy and challenging exercise that, from time to time, may produce little or no positive result. Payments are for research services provided and payments must be made even if the research fails to provide the client’s desired result.
4. General Points
4.1. Little Things Genealogy will maintain regular verbal and/or written contact with the client, communicating as appropriate any details, issues, suggestions, questions and/or time frames in order to ensure a smooth and effective working relationship.
4.2. All information provided by the client will be treated as confidential by Little Things Genealogy.
4.3. Reports supplied by Little Things Genealogy to the client are copyrighted by Little Things Genealogy and must not be reproduced, amended, or published, including in electronic form, without prior written consent.
